  • Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and assisting with overall operation of the Social Services Department for a long-term care nursing center in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and center guidelines.

  • Consults with patients and family members concerning personal, emotional, medical, and social needs.

  • Assists Patients in obtaining needed services when such services are not provided by the nursing center.

  • Provides medicare, medicaid, and other financial assistance information to patients and family members. 

  • Responsible for meeting documentation requirements for long-term care guidelines related to social services.


  • Bachelor's degree in social work, related field, or nursing.

  • Two years' supervisory experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing center or other related medical center.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers, office machines, and various business software applications.

  • Embrace the standards, values, and beliefs of the organization.

  • Possess ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Be capable of maintaining effective working relationships with residents, family members, staff and fellow department heads.

Herrington Homestead has a house parent position available. Applicant must be at least 23 years old, pass a drug screen, security background checks, and have a clear motor vehicle record.
A house parent is required to exhibit the highest quality of character. Applicants must be mature and serve as a positive role model for teenagers.
Position requires weekend and 24 hour shifts when needed. Benefits include paid vacation time, 6 days off per month, holiday pay, health insurance and the opportunity to save for retirement on a tax-advantaged basis, commonly known as a 401K plan.
